Welcome to Mytchett, Surrey
Mytchett is a small village located in the county of Surrey in the South East of England. It is situated in the borough of Surrey Heath and has a population of around 5,000 people. Mytchett is known for its rural setting and is home to a number of outdoor attractions, including the Mytchett Place Nature Reserve and the Basingstoke Canal.
Mytchett has a rich history that dates back to the Middle Ages, when it was a settlement on the old Roman road between London and Winchester. The village is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and its name is thought to come from the Old English words “mitchen” and “et,” which mean “a place with many small streams.” Over the centuries, Mytchett has been home to a number of notable figures, including the 18th-century poet and artist William Cowper, who lived in the village for a time.
